Q: How did you first become interested in marketing and public relations?
PB: As I was working at a law firm prior to graduating and with marketing departments at Lucent, I realized I was more interested in the marketing space than working on web development or IT.

Q: What inspired you to start Velocitas, and how did you come up with the name?
PB:
I was inspired to start Velocitas because I saw a need for a marketing agency that could deliver results with both strategic depth and speed. I wanted to build something that reflected how I like to work, effectively, efficiently, and with purpose. The name Velocitas came naturally. It’s a Latin word meaning speed, swiftness, or velocity, and it also implies agility and responsiveness. It perfectly captured the vision I had: an agency built for momentum, driven by insight, and always moving forward.

Q: What are some of the most rewarding—and most challenging—aspects of leading a marketing and PR agency?
PB:
Seeing all the work you do come to fruition and being a part of that growth, in addition to supporting and mentoring young women in their career path.

Q: Can you walk us through a typical day as president of Velocitas?
PB:
Everyday varies depending on if we are meeting with a client or developing a strategy for a campaign.

Q: You’ve worked with clients in healthcare, law, private equity, and technology. What’s unique about marketing in these industries?
PB:
Some of our team members previously worked in other industries and I have been able to see how unique it is from their perspective. You must understand their goals and audiences and what makes them unique is that they are supporting other people and companies with their services.

Q: Tariffs and trade policy are now impacting marketing budgets. How do you help clients adapt to these changes?
PB:
We steer them to what is right for them and focus on high-ROI channels and rethink their media strategy in 90-day cycles

Q: What’s the most memorable campaign or project you’ve worked on at Velocitas?
PB:
We have a few partners that have worked with us for many years and seeing the success of our campaigns has been a memorable part of my career.

Q: How do you stay ahead of trends in such a fast-paced industry?
PB:
Reading and Researching constantly while simultaneously implementing trends as they rise.

Q: You serve on several boards and mentor young professionals. Why is community involvement important to you?
PB:
It is so fulfilling to mentor and share your experience, and you can see how they appreciate it when I speak, and they respond in kind with requests to collaborate and learn more.

Q: What advice would you give to women who want to become leaders in marketing or start their own agency?
PB:
They need to be positive, resilient and work hard and always keep in mind that when a door closes there is always a better opportunity awaiting.

Q: What is one word of advice you can offer to young women who want to reach your level of success?
PB:
Consistency

Q: Can you tell our audience one of your most memorable moments of your career?
PB:
When I made the decision to put all my focus and energy towards my purpose and growing the agency.

Q: At the start of your career, what do you wish you had known?
PB:
That it would not happen overnight and to be cognizant of my time and energy.

Q: Which woman inspires you and why?
PB:
All the women in my life in various ways.

Q: What advice would you give to young women who want to pursue their dream and start a business?
PB:
Think big and focus on your gift and find the right people to support you along the way.

Q: What advice would you give to young women who want to succeed in the workplace?
PB:
Always look at every opportunity with a positive attitude and that every experience is a lesson to lead you in the right direction.

Q: After high school, where did you feel your career path would take you?
PB:
I initially thought I would be a psychiatrist and then changed my major to business and management information systems (MIS).

Q: Can you tell us how you manage your work life balance?
PB:
I make time for exercise and self-care and spending time with my friends and family.

Q: What's your advice for women in male-dominated fields?
PB:
Never feel intimidated in any way and showcase your strengths.
